“I can confirm that Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and I have been in Barcelona this week, agreeing with the player and the adviser, we had very good talks and I want to say thank you to FC Barcelona.

“Medical check and signature and we are very happy to have won this player, it will be a one-year loan deal with a call option.”

Those are the words of Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, who has confirmed that talks between themselves and Barcelona have been positive regarding the loan transfer of Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian attacking star has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish giants over the course of the last few months, but nobody has been all too sure as to where he was going to end up. For a long time it seemed as if he’d be going to Tottenham or Manchester United, but now, he’s set to begin a new adventure in Germany.
