Danny Blind lands technical manager’s job at Ajax Amsterdam

Danny Blind, former Dutch international, has signed a four year contract as technical manager at his former club, Ajax Amsterdam.

Blind was captain of Ajax in1995 when they won the UEFA Champions League.

He also coached the club in 2005 and 2006.

Blind replaces Martin van Geel and he will work under new manager Marco van Basten who will be taking over the managerial post after his tenure as coach of the Netherlands ends with Euro 2008.

Blind has been technical director at Sparta Rotterdam since 2007.

Blind retired as a player in 1999 and became head of the youth department in 2003, taking over as head coach from Ronald Koeman in March 2005. Blind was sacked in May 2006 despite winning the Dutch Cup and clinching a Champions League qualifying round place after winning the playoffs.
