De Gea to be offered lucrative new United deal

The Mail Online understands that David De Gea is set to be offered a new contract at Manchester United that would see his wages increase by £15,000 per week.

The Spain U21 international, who’s current deal of £60k per week runs to 2016, has played every minute of the Premier League champion’s season so far, keeping three clean sheets.

He has recently been the subject of interest from Barcelona, who are on the lookout for a replacement for outgoing current number one Victor Valdes, who is set to leave the Nou Camp at the end of the season.

The 22 year old came through the youth system at Atletico Madrid, making his debut in a Champions League tie against Porto in September 2009.

De Gea swapped Madrid for Manchester in June 2011, for a fee in the region of £19m, making him the fifth most expensive goalkeeper of all time behind Gianluigi Buffon, Manuel Neuer, Francesco Toldo and Sebastien Frey.
