De Ligt chooses Barca?

According to Sport, Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt has chosen Barcelona as his next destination.

The 19-year-old defender is seen as the next great centre-back in world football and as such, he has attracted interest from a number of top clubs around Europe. Barcelona expressed an interest and met with him back in November, but at the time de Ligt wasn’t very keen on a switch to the Catalan club due to several reasons, among which the fear of not having a place in the team was perhaps the most important one.

However, Sport report that he has informed Barca that he’s now willing to take on that challenge, and despite more lucrative offers from elsewhere, the deal to make him a Barcelona player has come one step nearer.

Meanwhile, the player himself refused to rule out a move to Liverpool only a few days ago, and he stressed that for the time being he remains focused on Ajax.
