Derby want Ashley Cole

According to a report from Sky Sports News, Championship side Derby County are in talks to sign former Chelsea and Arsenal defender Ashley Cole. The 38 year old veteran has been without a club since leaving LA Galaxy last year, but there’s one very important factor that could held to convince him to make the jump over to Pride Park. That factor, of course, is Frank Lampard.

The Rams boss shared some special days with Cole during their time at Stamford Bridge, and that’s likely something that the Englishman will be taking into consideration. Derby recently allowed Max Lowe to move to Aberdeen on loan until the end of the season, which is why this deal has become more of a possibility in recent days.

While Cole may not be at the level he once was, or anywhere near it, he’s probably got enough left in the tank to compete in the Championship and help Derby push on towards the playoffs.
