Once again turning our attention to this weekend’s Belarusian Premier League fixtures, Dinamo Brest will be hoping to make a return to winning ways when they host a struggling Shakhtyor at the Regional Sport Complex on Saturday evening.
Starting with the hosts, after coming off the back of what was a shock 1-0 defeat away at a high-flying Vitebsk last weekend, there is no doubt that Dinamo Brest will be glad to make a return to home soil on Saturday. Including a thumping 3-1 win against Isloch a fortnight ago, Sergey Kovalchuk’s side have lost just a sole Premier League fixture in front of their own supporters in their previous 11 appearances, a run that stems back to July 2019. Still trying to find some stability since opening the new campaign, the defending champions have won three of their last five matchups across all competitions and are also within touching distance of booking their spot in the final of this year’s Belarusian Cup.
As for the visitors, despite landing a Europa League spot after an eye-catching year last season, Shakhtyor find themselves in the midst of a real sticky patch. Hit with a 2-1 defeat at home against Slutsk last weekend, the Moles have failed to win any of their last four Premier League appearances on the bounce and are showing some worrying issues in the final third. Recording just a single shot on target last time out, Yuriy Vernydub’s men have recorded just a sole strike in over 400 minutes of action. Still some way off finding a similar level that they set last year, Shakhtyor also hold a worrying record against Saturday’s hosts. Including a 2-0 defeat when the two sides faced off in the Belarusian Cup earlier in the month, the Yellows have lost back-to-back matchups against Dinamo Brest and we’re backing a similar outcome this weekend.
