Once again turning our attention to this weekend’s Belarusian Premier League, an inconsistent Dinamo Minsk will be hoping to make it back-to-back victories when they make the trip to a struggling Smolevichy on Friday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, although Smolevichy may have managed to snatch a dramatic 90th-minute equalizer away at fellow Premier League returners Belshina last weekend, it does not cover what has been a worrying start to the New Year for Aleksandr Brazevich’s men. Failing to win any of their opening five top-flight appearances and in the midst of their worst run since dropping out of the Premier League in 2018, the Black and Reds have also continued to show plenty of cause for concern in the final third. Bagging just a single strike in over 400 minutes of action, it should also be noted that Smolevichy have failed to bag a goal from open play since the opening weekend. Already seen to be one of the leading contenders to be hit with an immediate drop this season, Friday could be another tough test for Brazevich’s side.

As for the visitors, while Dinamo Minsk might have opened the new campaign with back-to-back defeats against Ruh Brest and their cross-town rivals, the Whites have begun to show some signs of life. Hoping to mount what would be a shock European charge this year, Sergei Gurenko’s side should also be boosted by a deserved 2-0 win against Neman Grodno last time out. While Minsk might be continuing to show some worrying issues on the road, they should undoubtedly be boosted by their stellar record against Friday’s hosts. Including a 2-0 win the last time they faced off against Smolevichy, Minsk landed an identical scoreline the last time they made the trip to the Ozyorny Stadium. Winning each of their last four matchups against the Blacks and Reds, we’re backing a similar outcome this weekend.
