Dortmund to make room for Reus

Borussia Dortmund will offload several veterans to make room for Marco Reus, according to reports in Germany.

Bild claims the Bundesliga champions will allow Mohamed Zidan, Florian Kringe, and Antonio da Silva to leave on free transfers when their contracts expire in June, with their wage money used to fund an offer for Borussia Moenchengladbach star Reus.

The report also states that veterans Sebastian Kehl and Patrick Owomoyela will be invited to stay at Dortmund, but only for reduced salaries.

In total, Dortmund can expect to save eight million euros by trimming their wage bill.

Bundesliga rivals Gladbach have professed their wish for Reus to stay but the 22-year-old could force a transfer this year, with a 17.5 million-euro buy-out clause set to take effect in the summer.

The Germany forward has, however, said he would like to remain at the Borussia-Park.

Dortmund have not yet officially confirmed their interest in Reus, although it has been reported that the player is more interested in joining Juergen Klopp’s side than Bayern Munich, who have officially confirmed their intent to acquire his signature.

Reus has featured in 18 matches in all competitions for Moenchengladbach this season, scoring 13 goals and providing six assists.
