Heerenveen heaped more misery on Eredivisie bottom side Willem II Tilburg with a 5-0 thrashing on Sunday.

Heerenveen, who sit eighth in the Dutch top-flight, easily accounted for the hapless Willem, who have registered just two points in 14 games and are destined to finish last in the league.

Doubles to Michel Breuer and Roy Beerens ensured they stayed above mid-table, with all four goals adding to Mika Vayrynen’s 19th-minute opener.

ADO Den Haag broke NAC Breda’s two-game winning streak with a comprehensive 3-0 win at Kyocera Stadion.

The home side led after just five minutes via Dmitri Bulykin, before second-half strikes to Wesley Verhoek and Alexander Radosavljevic wrapped up the three points, helping Den Haag to sixth place on the table.

A Tim Matavz brace was what Groningen required to get back on the winners’ list, claiming a 2-0 win over Feyenoord at Euroborg to move third in the league, four points off top spot.

FC Utrecht dismantled 10-man NEC Nijmegen 4-0 in the late kick-off, scoring three late goals to exacerbate the margin.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel scored from the spot in the 21st minute, before goals to Edouard Duplan, Mihai Nesu and Frank Demouge in the final six minutes added the finishing touches.
