Everton 1/1 to beat West Ham in Friday’s Premier League showdown

Competition: Premier League

Market: Everton win

Odds: 1/1 @ 888sport

Two sides who will open up the New Year on Friday evening, top-four chases Everton will be looking to keep up their recent momentum when they welcome West Ham to Goodison Park.

Starting with the hosts, while Everton might have seen their EFL Cup run come to an end against Manchester United last week, the Blues are enjoying a real Premier League purple patch. Managing to refind their feet after what was a sticky spell back in November, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are still firmly in the top-four chase and a European return is at the top of their agenda. Last seen on top-flight duties picking up a late 1-0 win away at relegation strugglers Sheffield United, the former Napoli boss has seen his new-look squad pick up four wins on the bounce and the mood in his camp should be at a red-hot high. With attacking MVP Dominic Calvert-Lewin spearheading their charge at Goodison, it should also be noted that when Everton hosted the Hammers in the EFL Cup back in September, they picked up a thumping 4-1 romp on home soil.

As for the visitors, while West Ham might have managed to pick up a point away at fellow European outsiders Southampton on Tuesday evening, David Moyes’ side are seeking a New Year boost. With the former Manchester United boss seeing his tactics over the past week come under real scrutiny from fans around East London, the Hammers have failed to win any of their last four Premier League contests on the bounce, a run highlighted by sluggish home draws against Brighton and Crystal Palace. Although Friday’s guests might still be just about managing to hang onto their spot in the top-half of the table, it should be noted that West Ham picked up just a single win from their six December showdowns. Now playing their third game in the space of just six days, the Hammers should face another stern test when they travel to Goodison.
