Everton’s Smalling bid rejected

According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Premier League side Manchester United have turned down a bid from Everton that would see the Toffees sign Chris Smalling on a season long loan. The belief is that Solskjaer considers Smaling to be one of the most valuable members of his squad, which is an interesting point of view in itself. Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelor are already considered to be central figures by many, and with that in mind, we think it’ll be interesting to see what United do next.

Smalling has certainly had his moments as a Manchester United player that have helped the club out of some sticky situations, but for the most part, he isn’t viewed as an elite defender within the realms of world football.

Perhaps, though, with a season full of high quality performances for the Red Devils, he can change that perception of himself once and for all.
