Evian have named Pablo Correa as the club’s new coach.

The 44-year-old Uruguayan will take over from Bernard Casoni, who has left the club after guiding them from the third tier of French football to Ligue 1 in his two years in charge.

“I have decided to leave after this positive work, to which I have to add our current 11th place in Ligue 1,” Casoni told the club’s official website.

“I would like to thank Evian for this adventure and the trust they had in me to carry out the club’s goals.”

“I would also like to thank the players, the technical and medical staff and all the fans for supporting me during this great adventure.”

Correa, a former player for Penarol and Defensor Sporting, has been out of work since May, when he was sacked by Nancy.

“On Tuesday morning Pablo Correa will lead his first training session,” the club said.

Correa was coach of Nancy between 2002 and 2011 and named manager of the year in 2006 and 2007.
