Fernandes wants Man Utd to ´grow up´ as midfield star targets trophies over goals

Bruno Fernandes urged Manchester United to keep maturing and increase their chances of winning trophies after inspiring their emphatic Europa League win over Real Sociedad.

The Portugal star scored twice before Marcus Rashford and Daniel James also got on the scoresheet in a 4-0 victory at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.

Fernandes has now been directly involved in 52 goals in all competitions since his United debut last February, 10 more than any other Premier League player in that time.

His latest decisive display ensured the Red Devils ended a nine-game winless run against Spanish opposition and put themselves in a strong position to reach the last 16.

And it is progress in as many competitions as possible that matters most to Fernandes as he bids to win his first silverware since leaving Sporting CP, having suffered three semi-final defeats in 2019-20.

“It’s about winning. We want to win games and today I think we did everything well,” he told BT Sport.
