Fernando Torres in MLS melee

Atletico Madrid striker will leave his boyhood club for the second time this summer and will not be short of interest with a host of MLS sides said to be vying for his signature.

The experienced forward has a meeting scheduled with his representatives to discuss and decide the Atletico Madrid star’s future and reports from Spanish radio station Cadena Cope claim that Chicago Fire representatives will be at the meeting as well.

The MLS side are considered favourites to land Torres with ESPN claiming that Fire general manager Nelson Rodriguez was in Madrid to proceed with the negotiations but sources have since then reported it will not happen.

The Montreal Impact, Houston Dynamo and Sporting Kansas City are all standing in line and waiting for the holders of Torres’ discovery rights to potentially pull out of the race.

Torres is currently a 2/1 price to continue his career in any MLS club after the summer transfer window
