Competition: League Two

Market: Forest Green win

Odds: 10/11 @ 888sport

Looking to widen their buffer at the top of the League Two table in midweek, Forest Green will host a struggling Exeter on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Forest Green might have entered their enforced break last month with that stunning 5-5 draw against Oldham on the road, Rob Edwards’ men really came flying back out the traps last weekend. Picking up what was a routine 2-0 victory against Stevenage on New Year’s Day, the Gloucestershire-based outfit should find the mood in their camp at a real high. Looking to lay down another marker on home soil here, another victory on Tuesday night would see them extend their buffer at the top of the League Two table to nine points. With just a single defeat to their name from any of their previous eight matchups from across all formats, Forest Green have also continued to shine at the New Lawn. It should be noted that the midweek hosts have won five of their last six contests in Gloucestershire.

As for the visitors, last seen on New Year’s Day putting in what was another flat display, Exeter find themselves in the midst of what has quickly become an extended struggle. Eventually hit with a 2-1 defeat away at promotion contenders Sutton, the Grecians have now lost each of their last four matchups on the spin. Falling out of the play-off spots and with the feel of a side seeking a boost in midweek, Matt Taylor’s men have gained a recent reputation for their issues against the League Two elite. Knowing that they should face another stern test when they make the trip to the New Lawn on Tuesday night, it should be noted that Exeter have failed to win any of their previous five contests on the road. Given the recent gulf in class, we’re backing a home victory for the runaway leaders here.
