Nobody really expected Gibraltar to stand a chance against France in a Euro qualifier, but the 14-0 win the World Cup finalists achieved over the group minnows on Saturday is a new record.

The previous record was held by Germany, who beat San Marino by 13-0 in 2006.

It should be said that the deadlock was broken in the third minute by an own-goal from Gibraltar defender Ethan Santos, for whom things got a lot worse 15 minutes later when he earned a red card for serious foul play on Paris Saint-Germain youngster Warren Zaire-Emery.
