French legend closing in on Ghana job

Marcel Desailly reveals he is confident that he will be elected as the new Ghana coach after Milovan Rajevac opted against contract extension.

Milovan Rajevac became one of the most successful coaches in the history of Ghana, leading the Black Stars to African Nations Cup final and the World Cup quarter-finals, but he decided not to extend his contract, leaving the national team chiefs to start the search for his successor.

French legend Marcel Desailly has been singled out as one of the candidates for what would be his first ever coaching job.

“Everybody, from the minister to the head of the federation seem ok (with my proposal). I am available. We now have to talk money and see exactly how we can work together,” said Desailly.

The former France defender has absolutely no coaching experience and his only credentials include excellent football reputation and the fact he was born in Ghana.
