Friday’s Championship Accumulator: 7/1 Special & Betting Tips – April 18th

With battles at both ends of the Championship table looking like they will go right down to the wire, we look set for a season-defining afternoon of action.

As Leeds and Burnley look to take another giant leap towards a lucrative Premier League return, teams at the foot of the table are fighting for their lives.

Ahead of a stacked Friday schedule, we have taken a look at some of the most appealing Championship betting tips that are available.

Friday, April 18th

BST 15:00 Watford vs Burnley

While Burnley might have lost their Premier League status last season, the Clarets are sat firmly in the driving seat to book an immediate top-flight return.

Although Saturday’s guests might have watched Vincent Kompany complete a shock move to German giants Bayern Munich last summer, they are certainly enjoying life under Scott Parker.

Getting Friday’s fixtures underway holding a five-point buffer in the automatic promotion spots, the former Fulham boss knows that his squad can take a giant leap towards officially booking their immediate Premier League return.

Likewise, with just their goal difference keeping them off the top of the Championship table, Burnley are enjoying what has become quite the run.

Last seen securing a 2-1 victory at home against Norwich and breaking a string of records this season, the Clarets have also not suffered a single Championship defeat since the start of November.

Making an immediate return to losing ways last week as they fell to a 2-1 loss at the hands of West Brom, Watford have drastically failed to find any kind of stability so far this calendar year.

Getting April underway with another 2-1 defeat against Bristol City, Tom Cleverley’s men have secured just a single victory from any of their previous five Championship showdowns.

Hit with a 2-1 defeat when they travelled to Turf Moor for their reverse Championship meeting on December 21st, Watford couldn’t have asked for a tougher challenge this weekend.

Tip: Jaidon Anthony over 0.5 shots on target @ 6/5

15:00 Coventry vs West Brom

While many might have been shocked back in November following Frank Lampard’s arrival in the Midlands, Coventry are certainly enjoying life under the former Everton boss.

Skyrocketing themselves back into the play-off places, Friday’s hosts will be bracing themselves for what is a season-defining showdown when they bitter local rivals arrive this weekend.

Heading into March’s international break with a stellar 3-0 romp against Sunderland, Coventry hold a three-point buffer in the top-six chase and they have rightfully received plenty of praise.

Losing just a trio of their previous 11 Championship appearances, Coventry should also be excited by their success on home soil.

Last seen in front of their own supporters claiming a 1-0 victory against Portsmouth, it should be noted that Lampard’s men have registered 15 points from their last six matchups at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Managing to make what was an essential return to winning ways last week as they snatched a 2-1 victory at home against Watford, West Brom must use that performance as a platform to build on.

However, while the Baggies might open Friday’s fixtures sat just three points adrift of their local foes and finding a route into the play-off places, Tony Mowbray’s men have lost each of their other three Championship appearances.

Drastically failing to find any kind of stability, West Brom have remarkably failed to collect consecutive Championship victories since way back in September.

Gaining a reputation for their glaring issues on the road, Mowbray’s side have failed to win any of their last 13 straight second-tier battles away from the Hawthorns.

Tip: Coventry win @ 5/4

15:00 Swansea City vs Hull City

While Swansea might have already accepted that their dramatic late charge for a play-off finish is off the cards, Friday’s hosts are signing off the 2024/25 campaign in the midst of what has become a sensational flurry.

With the mood in their camp at a red-hot high, Alan Sheehan’s men are riding a major wave of momentum and will simply be looking to extend on their purple patch here.

Last seen putting in another eye-catching performance as they clinched a 1-0 victory away at Sunderland, the Swans have now won each of their previous three consecutive Championship appearances by an aggregate score of 5-0.

In fact, Sheehan’s high-flying squad have put 10 points on the board from just their last four showdowns against second-tier opposition.

Yet to concede a single strike through April and enjoying their most fruitful spell of the campaign, Swansea will be smelling a real opportunity this weekend.

While Hull might have got the 2024/25 campaign underway with their sights set on mounting another play-off charge, the Tigers have come crashing back down to earth this time around.

Despite coming from behind earlier in the week as they snatched a 1-1 stalemate at home against Coventry, Ruben Selles’ men are at the heart of a Championship relegation scrap.

Falling to a 1-0 defeat away at Watford in their last showdown away from the MKM Stadium, Hull have notched just a single victory from any of their previous five Championship appearances.

Failing to find any kind of fluidity in the final third, the former Reading boss should be bracing himself for another stern examination this weekend.
