Competition: Serie B

Market: Goias win

Odds: 2/3 @ 888sport

Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the Serie B table, Goias and Remo will face off in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Starting with the hosts, putting in what was a rugged display on the road over the weekend and deserving of their 1-1 draw against fellow top-four contenders Coritiba, Marcelo Cabo’s side are tipped as a leading pick in the promotion chase. Glad to make a return to home soil in midweek and smelling what should be a golden chance, Verdão were last seen at the Estádio da Serrinha picking up a deserved 1-0 win against Operário PR. In fact, aside from a 1-0 loss against Serie B leaders Náutico on July 10th, The Big Green have shown a host of defensive resolve. Remarkably, the former Atlético Goianiense boss has seen his side pick the ball out of their net just once on home soil since opening the 2021 campaign. More impressive, it should also be noted that Goias have collected victories over the likes of Avai and CRB on their recent run.

As for the visitors, while Goias might find themselves leading the chase in the promotion hunt, Remo are a side who have really shown a host of issues over the past three weeks. While an eye-catching run last month might have been a much-needed boost for the Serie B returners, Head Coach Felipe Conceição saw his side put in another worrying display over the weekend. Despite seeing Operário PR get a man sent off after just five minutes, Leão were hit with a 1-0 defeat on home soil, a result that would have had alarm bells ringing. Sliding their way down the table and now losing three of their last four matchups, Remo have also shown some real toothless displays. Along with drawing a blank at the Baenão over the weekend, Wednesday’s guests have managed to score just a single goal in over 400 minutes of action.
