Guzan set for Middlesbrough switch

Middlesbrough are closing in on the signing of USA international goalkeeper Brad Guzan, according to Sky Sports.

The North East side have been busy in the transfer market this summer as they prepare for their first campaign in the top flight with eight new players already putting pen to paper.

Among those new arrivals is former Barcelona and Manchester United shot-stopper Victor Valdes while they also have Dimi Konstantopolous and Tomas competing for the number one shirt.

Guzan has spent the last eight years at Villa Park, racking up one hundred and seventy-one appearances for the club in all competitions.

He became the club’s first choice shot stopper in 2012 and only missed a handful of games since but is set for a new challenge following Villa’s relegation to the Championship.

The thirty-one year old has been capped fifty times for his country with three of those appearances coming at the 2014 World Cup finals.
