Hazard set to leave Monchengladbach

“Thorgan has informed us that he doesn’t want to extend his contract and that he wants to leave the club in the summer to take the next step.” said Max Eberl, the sporting director of Borussia Monchengladbach.

“I’ve heard this statement 15 times in the last 10 years as really great players have left us. That’s the way it is for us.”

There it is in black and white: Thorgan Hazard wants to leave Borussia Monchengladbach during the upcoming summer transfer window. Thorgan has been heavily linked with a series of big time moves over the course of the last few months, with Borussia Dortmund standing out as the primary suitors for the Belgian. However, it didn’t quite seem as if the two sides could come to terms on any real concrete deal.

Whilst that may still be the case, it certainly seems like the door is now open for negotiations to intensify between now and the end of the season.
