Competition: Scottish Premiership
Market: Hibernian win
Odds: 1/2 @ 888sport
Smelling a golden chance to make an immediate return to winning ways in midweek, Hibernian will welcome a struggling Ross County to Easter Road on Wednesday evening.
Starting with the hosts, while Hibernian might have seen their unbeaten run come to an abrupt end on Boxing Day, they did receive a string of plaudits. Eventually falling to a close-fought 1-0 loss away at runaway leaders and European outfit Rangers over the weekend, Jack Ross’ side will rightfully be smelling a golden chance on Wednesday evening. Despite seeing their eye-catching nine-match unbeaten run come to an end last time out, the one-time Sunderland boss will be glad to make a return to Easter Road in midweek. Still with their own European charge at the top of their agenda, Hibs have really impressed with their continued success on home soil. Along with snatching points off of both Celtic and Rangers so far this season, Ross’ men are unbeaten in their last nine straight fixtures in Edinburgh, a run that stems all the way back to August 30th.
As for the visitors, while the mood in Hibernian’s camp might be at a recent high, the same cannot be said for a struggling Ross County outfit. Already still sat rock-bottom of the Premiership table and seen as a real relegation favourite, the Staggies put in another worrying display on Boxing Day afternoon. Eventually hit with a deserved 2-0 loss against St. Mirren on home soil, John Hughes’ men have lost each of their last six straight matchups across all formats, a run that stems back to the end of November. With it appearing that their stunning League Cup victory against Celtic last month was just an ever so minor bounce, it should also be noted that Ross County have lost each of their last three away defeats by a scoreline of 2-0. Facing another stern test outside of Dingwall in midweek, we’re backing a home victory on Wednesday evening.
