According to Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc, BVB will struggle to keep hold of star winger Jadon Sancho. The youngster has enjoyed a sensational few seasons at the German club after his arrival from Manchester City in 2017.

Won’t be at Dortmund for another five years

When asked about Sancho’s future with the club, Zorc told German sports outlet Kicker: “No decision has been made,”

“But you don’t have to be a prophet to know he won’t play here for another five years.

“He has taken this positive development (at Dortmund). I doubt that would have been possible with top English clubs. We trust the players very early, and we are not afraid to let them play. He acknowledges that.”

It seems that Zorc is being realistic about the starlet. BVB have earned a fine reputation for developing players and then selling them on a big profit. The latest example of this policy was USA international Christian Pulisic, who joined Chelsea in a big-money move in the summer.

Reportedly, Manchester United held talks to sign the youngster, while BVB also turned down a big money bid from a ‘super club’ in the summer too.

Sancho is potentially an elite player

Many English players are overhyped, before actually even playing that well. Sancho is just 19-years-of age, yet is delivering on a consistent basis for Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

The youngster has already scored three goals and produced four assists in the German top-flight. Last season he found the net 12 times and produced 14 assists in his breakthrough campaign.

The numbers are impressive from such a young player. The young Englishman is showing signs that he could become an elite player in the near future, which there are very few in the world game.

England have not produced many top-quality players in recent history. Ironically, it could be German coaching that has got the best out of one of the most talented young prospects in years.

As Zorc talked about above, BVB gave Sancho an opportunity he would not have got in the Premier League. He has taken the chance and developed because of regular first-team football at a very high level.

Match experience is obviously vital for a young players development. Young English players do not always have the chance to play much first-team football with big Premier League clubs. Sancho has already shown young English players the way.

Concentrating on bringing Dortmund success

If he continues his consistent form no doubt, he will make a big-money move in the near future. It will only be to elite club, as elite clubs will likely be the only ones that will be able to afford the winger.

At the minute, Sancho is unlikely to be thinking about his next move. Dortmund are once again expected to compete for the Bundesliga title. BVB are odds of 11/2 second-favourites to win the German top-flight title.

If Lucian Favre’s team are to win the German title, the Dortmund defence will have to start matching the performances of the team’s front line, especially Sancho who is an absolute menace to opposition backlines.

Sancho comes across as a level-headed young man. He took a leap of faith by joining Dortmund at such a young age. The move has reaped rewards for both club and player.

He seems happy at the German club for now. The winger will no doubt be on the move at some point. However, for now, he will be concentrating on bringing his current club success in the near future.

Will Jadon Sancho be moving on in the near future?
