Hansi Flick says he will “never forget this moment” after leading Barcelona to a second consecutive LaLiga triumph with a 2-0 Clasico win over Real Madrid.

Hours before kick-off, it was announced that Flick’s father had passed away, but he was in the dugout for Barcelona’s victory on Sunday.

A stunning Marcus Rashford free-kick was followed up by Ferran Torres’ effort as Barcelona raced into a 2-0 lead after 18 minutes.

They had chances to add to their tally, while Madrid had a Jude Bellingham goal ruled out for offside as Barcelona clinched the title via a Clasico victory for the first time in their history.

Since winning their first league title of the 21st century in 2004-05, Barcelona have done so consecutively on five occasions: 2004-06 (two), 2008-11 (three), 2014-16 (two), 2017-19 (two) and 2024-26 (two). It is the 13th achievement in this period (Madrid – nine).

And it is a victory that will live long in Flick’s memory on an emotional day.

“I’ll never forget this moment. My team is fantastic, and I’m delighted,” Flick said.

“I’m very proud of my players. It’s thrilling to be with the fans, in a Clasico, beating Real Madrid.

“We played very well, we defended very well, and we scored two great goals.”

Flick is also just the second Barcelona manager to win his first two home LaLiga matches against Madrid in the 21st century, after Pep Guardiola (first three, 2010).

Barcelona, who moved 14 points clear of Madrid to clinch the title with three games to spare, have done so by winning each of their last 11 LaLiga matches.

It is their best run under Flick, as he becomes just the fifth manager in the club’s history to achieve an 11-match winning streak, after Guardiola (16 and 11), Frank Rijkaard (14), Luis Enrique (12) and Tito Vilanova (11).

And Raphinha was full of praise for Flick’s leadership and dedication following their victory.

“Winning a league title is something to celebrate. We’ve done very well this season,” the Brazilian said.

“We all go through difficult times. In the end, knowing how to come back stronger from tough times… this team has shown that it knows how to do that.

“We went through those moments at the beginning of the season, but afterwards we’ve been spectacular.

“We often say that football gives you a lot of family. For me, Flick is like a father. He’s made me believe in myself again. I’m very happy for him.”
