Neymar was strongly linked to a potential return from Paris Saint-Germain to Barcelona, as well as a possibly controversial switch to Real Madrid, but the Ligue 1 champions were reluctant to let him leave despite their relationship with the world’s most expensive player becoming very cold at one point. Lately it has been reported that Juventus may be interested in his services too.
The window ended and his hopes of leaving the French capital this year failed, and he was forced to buckle down and work hard to win back the club and their supporters. He was doing relatively well, when injury struck again.
According to Le Parisien (as relayed by Marca), PSG director of football Leonardo was keen on offering the Brazil superstar a new contract, despite the current one running until 2022, but now they are questioning whether Leonardo and the club would be willing to invest heavily again into a player whose time at the Parc Des Princes has been plagued with injuries. Neymar was brought in to help PSG finall win the Champions League, but out of the four knockout stage games they’ve played in the competition since his arrival so far, he played only once.
