Harry Kane said it felt sweet to finally end his career-long trophy drought after Bayern Munich sealed the Bundesliga title in his second season at the club.

Bayern were crowned top-flight champions for the 34th time on Sunday after Bayer Leverkusen could only draw with Freiburg.

Kane missed his team’s 3-3 draw with RB Leipzig 24 hours earlier through suspension, but has enjoyed a fine season under Vincent Kompany this year.

The England captain has scored 24 goals in 29 league appearances and is the Bundesliga’s top scorer, five clear of second-placed Patrik Schick.

He also broke a league record with his goal against Heidenheim, becoming the quickest player to reach 60 goals in the top-flight, doing so in just 60 games.

Kane could also become the first player in Bundesliga history to be the division’s top scorer in both his first two seasons in Germany.

“What a night last night, what a celebration with the players, with the staff. I’m sure everyone’s feeling it a little bit this morning, but we’re here,” Kane said in a video on Monday.

“I feel amazing, it’s been a long time coming, obviously a lot of hard work, a lot of dedication, and it just feels sweet to win the title, the first one of my career.

“I appreciate all the support. As always, it never goes unnoticed, and I can’t wait to enjoy these next couple of weeks.

“I can’t wait to be at the Allianz Arena on Saturday and celebrate in front of the fans.

“And then, as always, we look forward to the next one, and we go again and try and get number two.”
