Competition: Nicaragua Premier League

Market: Jalapa win

Odds: 1/2 @ Bet 365

Turning our attention back to the Nicaraguan Premier League this weekend with European football still halted due to the coronavirus pandemic, a high-flying Jalapa will be hoping to close the deficit on the top-two when they host Chinandega late on Sunday night.

Starting with the hosts, despite just missing out on a spot in the play-offs last season, Jalapa managed to pick up a 2-1 win away at Deportivo Ocotal in midweek and are enjoying what has been an extended purple patch. Including a 2-0 victory against fellow top-six contenders Walter Ferretti, the Yellow and Greens have collected nine points out of a possible 12 and have continued to save their best performances for home soil. Still dreaming of landing a top-two finish this year, Jalapa are unbeaten in their last nine consecutive home fixtures, winning eight of those contests. Not tasting defeat in front of their own supporters since the 24th of November and even snatching a deserved 1-1 draw against defending champions Managua on their unbeaten run, there is no doubt that Sunday’s hosts will be looking to extend on their eye-catching run this weekend.

As for the visitors, while Chinandega may have managed to bounce back from their 7-0 hammering against Walter Ferretti with what was a much-needed three points on Wednesday night, it does not cover what has been a worrying run for Franja Roja. Now in a real battle to extend their stay in the play-offs, Wilson Gil Yuste’s side have won just one of their last five Premier League appearances and have continued to drastically struggle on their travels. Including that woeful defeat away at Walter Ferretti last month, Chinandega have failed to win any of their last 11 top-flight matches on the road, a run that stems all the way back to September. Also losing each of their last five trips to the Estadio Alejandro Ramos, we’re backing what should be a routine victory for Jalapa late on Sunday night.

Bet: Jalapa 1/2 to beat Chinandega in Sunday’s Nicaraguan Premier League contest @ Bet 365
