John Obi Mikel hints at Blues exit

One of the longest-serving Chelsea players John Obi Mikel admits he is considering a move away from Chelsea as he heads into the final year of his contract with the Blues.

Nigeria international is on a deal that runs until the summer of 2017 and will be allowed to begin negotiations over a free transfer should Chelsea fail to offer him a new deal.

John Obi Mikel is struggling to break into Antonio Conte’s side and is yet to make a competitive appearance under new boss after leading his Nigeria team to bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

John Obi Mikel will be hopeful to get his first start for Chelsea in their Football League Cup fixture against Leicester City on Tuesday, but admits his time with Chelsea could be coming to an end.

“I have one year left on my contract and yes, I will talk to other clubs because you never know what is going to happen”, Mikel was quoted in an interview with Goal.com.

Should Mikel make an appearance for Chelsea against Leicester it would be his 250th game for the London-based club since his arrival in the summer of 2006.
