Juventus have confirmed defender Renato Veiga is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a leg injury during Wednesday’s loss to PSV.
Veiga, who is on loan at Juve from Chelsea, pulled up early on during the Bianconeri’s Champions League play-off loss in the Netherlands.
The Portugal international has since undergone tests at the J Medical centre in Turin, with Juventus providing an update on Thursday.
“Renato Veiga, who came off during the first half of the match against PSV Eindhoven, underwent diagnostic tests,” Juve said in a statement.
“The examinations revealed an injury to the tendon of the plantaris gracilis in his right leg.”

The timeline for Veiga’s return was not shared, but media reports suggest the 21-year-old will miss between two and three weeks of action.
Veiga joined Juve on loan until the end of the season in January and has started all five of their matches this month.
He impressed in last week’s 1-0 Serie A win over Inter, leading the way for touches (63), completed passes (41) and clearances (seven).
Fourth-placed Juve return to league action on Sunday with a trip to Cagliari, before hosting Empoli in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.
