Fenerbahce have agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Czech Republic defender Michal Kadlec.

The left-sided defender has plied his trade at the BayArena since joining from Sparta Prague in 2008, going on to make 128 appearances in the Bundesliga.

Kaldec, who can also feature in the centre of defence, is now due in Istanbul for talks with Fenerbahce, who finished last season’s Super Lig campaign in second, 10 points behind fierce rivals Galatasaray.

A statement on the club’s official website read: “We have agreed terms with Bayern Leverkusen 04 over Michal Kadlec, talks with the player are ongoing.”

Fenerbahce have already been busy bolstering their squad in the off-season, signing Portugal defender Bruno Alves from Zenit St Petersburg and midfielder Alper Potuk from Eskisehirspor for more than 10 million euros.

Kadlec has 48 caps for the Czech Republic, whom he represented at the UEFA European Championships in 2008 and 2012.
