Kagawa set for Monaco

According to a report from Sky Germany, Shinji Kagawa is set to join Ligue 1 side Monaco on loan from Borussia Dortmund until the end of this current season. They will then have an option to purchase the Japan international on a permanent basis, with his current contract being set to expire next year. Kagawa has only made a few appearances for Dortmund this season, as he goes in search of more consistent first team football elsewhere.

Shinji is undoubtedly one of the biggest and best Japanese stars to come out of the country in quite some time, but he’s certainly been a bit unlucky when it comes to his transfer moves. His stint in English football with Manchester United didn’t particularly go so well, and while he’s had some great moments with Dortmund, he hasn’t quite been able to become the household name that many were anticipating he’d be back in the day.
