Looking to extend on their recent purple patch this weekend, Lazio will make the trip to the Stadio Artemio Franchi when they face off against Fiorentina on Saturday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Fiorentina might have managed to play out that 1-1 draw against Juventus a fortnight ago, The Purples have only shown a host of issues throughout this season. With some around the Stadio Artemio Franchi still looking over their shoulder at the drop zone, La Viola were last seen throwing away the lead on three separate occasions as they had to settle for a 3-3 draw against Bologna on the road. Gaining a reputation for their problems at the back and with it appearing their much-needed win against Verona last month was just a minor bounce, Fiorentina have landed just a single victory in their last seven attempts. Also suffering a 2-1 defeat against Saturday’s guests earlier in the season, it should also be noted that they have lost six of their last seven meetings against Lazio.

As for the visitors, while Fiorentina might be continuing on an extended sluggish patch, the mood in The Eagles’ camp should be at a real high. Looking to make a late charge for the top-four, Lazio were last seen picking up an action-packed victory on home soil. Eventually managing to land a stunning 4-3 win against Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico, Simone Inzaghi’s side have mustered 18 points from their last seven Serie A matchups. Bouncing back from that 5-2 defeat against Napoli last month, there is no doubt that the European contenders should be smelling a golden chance on their travels. Given their rampant record against Saturday’s hosts, including that 2-1 victory earlier in the season, we’re backing a similar outcome for a high-flying Lazio this weekend.
