Leeds 5/4 to beat West Brom in Wednesday’s Championship showdown

Competition: Championship

Market: Leeds win

Odds: 5/4 @ Bet 365

In what is a mouthwatering contest on New Year’s Day, Championship leaders West Brom and Leeds will face off at the Hawthorns on Wednesday evening.

Starting with the hosts, putting in what was a season-worst display and hit with a shock 2-0 defeat against relegation scrappers Middlesbrough in the Midlands, West Brom have suddenly fallen off the pace at a worrying time. Winning just one of their last five and dropping points against the likes of Barnsley and Wigan it will undoubtedly be the Baggies’ continued issues at the back giving Slaven Bilić the biggest headache. Failing to record a single clean sheet in any of their last six appearances, the former West Ham boss has seen his side fail to keep a clean sheet at the Hawthorns since opening the new campaign.

As for the visitors, eventually leaving St. Andrew’s with what was an astonishing 5-4 victory, Leeds have reclaimed their spot at the top of the table and Marcelo Bielsa is desperate for his side to build off of that result. Largely saving their best performances for outside of West Yorkshire, the former Napoli boss has seen his side win four of their last five matches on the road and have tasted defeat just once on their travels since the 5th of October. Picking up a 1-0 win when they faced off against the Baggies at Elland Road in October, we’re backing a similar outcome this week.
