Leeds go after Mata

According to a recent report from Marca, Leeds United are currently in pole position to sign veteran Juan Mata this summer.

The 34-year-old spent many years with Manchester United and Chelsea and upon leaving Old Trafford, many expected to see him test the waters away from English football. The report indicates that he had a series of offers from Major League Soccer, but it appears as if he doesn’t feel like he’s quite done yet in the Premier League.

Leeds came close to relegation last season but under the guidance of Jesse Marsch, they’re hoping they can get back to the kind of form that put them on the map when they were first promoted.

Mata may not be the one player that’s going to help them try and vault into the top half of the table, but he has the kind of experience that could prove to be invaluable.
