With a golden opportunity to put one foot in the final of this year’s EFL Cup, Leicester will welcome Aston Villa to the King Power on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, despite making a string of alterations over the weekend, Leicester picked up a routine 2-0 win over Championship outfit Wigan and the mood in their camp continues to soar. Opening 2020 sat second and only behind runaway league leaders Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers’ men are now a landslide favorite to secure a Champions League return this year. Also losing just a single matchup at the King Power since opening the new campaign and picking up a thumping 4-1 victory when they faced off against Villa last month, there is no doubt that the former Celtic boss should be confident of making another statement in midweek.

As for the visitors, hit with a 2-1 defeat away at Fulham over the weekend and crashing out of the FA Cup, Villa still find themselves in a worrying position. Also struck with the news that both Wesley and #1 goalkeeper Tom Heaton will miss the remainder of the season with knee injuries, Dean Smith’s men sit just a single point above the drop zone opening the New Year. While the likes of Jack Grealish might be continuing to shine, no team in the Premier League holds a worse away record than Wednesday’s guests and we’re backing another tricky night on the road for a Villa side struggling with some glaring injury issues.
