Lyon and Marseille played out an uninspiring 0-0 draw in Ligue 1 on Sunday, while Bordeaux won for the first time in five league matches.

In a match that failed to live up to its profile, neither side was able to produce enough offensive quality to break the deadlock in front of a packed crowd at the Stade de Gerland.

With league leaders PSG defeating Nancy earlier in the round, second-placed Lyon find themselves four points behind Carlo Ancelotti’s side while Marseille are a further three points adrift in third.

Elsewhere, Nice kept themselves in touch with the European places after an impressive 2-0 win over Montpellier.

A first-half double from Stephane Bahoken was the difference between the two sides with the victory seeing Nice draw level on points with fourth-placed St Etienne and close to within two points of Marseille.

In the day’s other game, Bordeaux recorded a 1-0 win over Bastia to keep their slim chances of a Europa League berth alive.

Cheick Tidiane scored the winner on 57 minutes for the hosts, who move to ninth place after snapping a four-match losing streak in the league.
