With a real chance to extend on their 100% start to the New Year, Lincoln will play host to Bristol Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, keeping the mood in their camp at a red-hot high and picking up what turned out to be a 3-1 romp away at Mansfield while on EFL Trophy duties in midweek, it has been a stunning start for Lincoln. Finding a route to the top of the League One table and one of just two sides along with Hull who can boast a 100% start to proceedings, the Imps have really found their feet under former Portsmouth boss Michael Appleton. Enjoying what has been a free-scoring start and firmly one of the leading contenders to book a maiden year in the Championship, fans around Lincolnshire will also be boosted by a stunning turnaround away at Blackpool last weekend. Coming from behind twice and bagging two goals in the final three minutes, Lincoln will be smelling a golden opportunity at the LNER Stadium.

As for the visitors, while Bristol Rovers might have managed to pick up a much-needed 2-0 win against Northampton last weekend, the Pirates failed to drag that momentum into midweek. Hit with a penalties defeat against Oxford while on EFL Trophy duties on Tuesday night, it has been a worrying start to the New Year for Ben Garner’s men and they also hold what is a hugely concerning reputation for their issues on the road. Last seen away from the Memorial Stadium in the third-tier getting hit with a thumping 4-1 defeat at the hands of Doncaster, they have failed to win any of their four competitive away fixtures so far this season and even more of a concern for Garner, his squad remarkably ended last year’s interrupted campaign without a win in any of their final eight matchups on the road.
