Liverpool looking at Pope

Talksport understand that Liverpool will turn their attention to Burnley’s Nick Pope as they continue their search for a new goalkeeper.

The Merseyside outfit have long been linked with a move for Roma shot-stopper Alisson though Pope may be a more realistic option as at £15m, he is valued over £50m less than the Brazilian.

Pope was thrust into the Burnley first team this season following an injury to Tom Heaton and impressed, keeping clean sheets in eleven of the thirty-four matches he started – form that helped the Lancashire club to a seventh-place finish and European qualification.

He was then included in England’s squad for this summer’s World Cup finals and made his senior international debut as a substitute for Jack Butland in the warm-up fixture against Costa Rica last week, which the Three Lions’ won by two goals to nil.

England play Tunisia on Monday evening, and are priced at 4/9 for the victory.
