Sweden captain Frederik Ljungberg will not be playing in the team’s friendly match with Slovenia on Monday.

Ljungberg is recovering from a rib injury and should be fit for the actual European Championships. The player thinks it’s too risky to make an appearance in this friendly.

“There’s a chance that I’ll get hit hard, and get injured again. Then I’ll miss the tournament,” said the West Ham midfielder.

Ljungberg aims to participate in Sweden’s last preparation friendly, with Ukraine on June 1st.
