Macheda completes Panathinaikos switch

Panathinaikos have completed the signing of former Manchester United forward Federico Macheda, according to ESPN.

The Greek outfit have agreed a three-year deal with the twenty-seven-year-old, who most recently played for Italian Serie B side Novara.

In eighteen months with the club he racked up fifty appearances in all competitions, scoring eleven goals – the most he has managed for anyone he has played for.

Despite bursting onto the scene for Manchester United with a goal on his debut in April 2009, Macheda managed just five more goals for the club before eventually being sold to Cardiff City in 2014.

He has had several loan spells both in England and across Europe, the latest of which coming at Nottingham Forest in the 2015/16 campaign though he played just three times and didn’t score.

Internationally, he has represented Italy at every level from U16 to U21 but has not yet received a senior cap.
