Man United didn’t have ‘real chance’ with Haaland

According to Sky Germany reporter Jesco von Eichmann, Manchester United never had a real chance at signing Erling Haaland prior to his move to German giants Borussia Dortmund.

United were linked with a move for Haaland for quite some time prior to his decision to leave Salzburg and go to Germany, with many believing they were one of the frontrunners in the race to get a deal done. As it turns out, according to this report, that simply wasn’t the case.

Haaland has been able to continue his fine run of form during the early portion of his time with Dortmund as many continue to look at him as the next great forward in world football. Whether or not he’s able to maintain that is another matter altogether, but beyond that, this is quite the indication as to where United are positioned in world football now compared to a few years ago.
