Man United eye Brendan Rodgers as Solskjaer replacement

Manchester United are considering a move for Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers in case they decide to part ways with Ole Gunner Solskjaer, according to ESPN.

Antonio Conte, currently without a club, has also been linked with the United job, but the 20-time English champions are keen to continue their youth promoting approach and believe that a British manager would do more in that aspect. They’ve apparently been impressed with the work Rodgers has done with the Foxes, winning the FA Cup last term, as well as his previous exploits with Celtic and Liverpool. On the other hand, United are aware that it would take a lot of money to get Leicester to release the Northern Irishman from his contract, which still has three and a half years left to run.

As for Rodgers himself, he recently distanced himself from rumours linking him with Newcastle by pointing out that he was happy at the King Power Stadium and that there was still a lot left to do there. It remains to be seen if he maintains the same stance if United come calling.
