Manchester City failed with Koulibaly bid

According to a recent report from Calciomercato, Manchester City had a €60 million bid for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly rejected in the summer.

It’s been well documented that City have more than a few defensive issues which need to be fixed, and as we look ahead to January, the belief is that they will go back in for Koulibaly with an even higher offer.

Liverpool are also in need of a new centre-back after the reject season-ending injury to Virgil van Dijk and with that in mind, you’d have to imagine we could have a bidding war on our hands once the new year rolls around.

It could come down to which of the two clubs appeals most to the man himself as opposed to what the highest offer may be but either way, Pep Guardiola isn’t a man who likes to give up on what he wants all too easily.
