Manchester United in pole position to sign Shaw

Sunday People has learned that Manchester United lead the chase to sign Southampton full-back Luke Shaw.

Chelsea were believed to be the favourites for the youngster’s signature as Jose Mourinho saw the England international as a perfect long-term replacement for Ashley Cole.

However, recent reports suggest that their move could be hijacked by Manchester United, who are ready to offer around £27 million for the talented footballer.

Shaw is reportedly prepared to accept an offer from the Red Devils and is set to agree a long-term deal worth £85,000 per week.

Southampton were hoping to keep hold of their prized asset for another season, but it is believed they will not be able to resist a big money proposal for his services.

The Saints climbed to eighth in the Premier League standings as they hammered Newcastle 4-0 on Saturday, and they are 15/2 to shock Manchester City at the Etihad.
