Manchester United still want Mendes

According to a recent report from Calciomercato, Manchester United are still interested in trying to sign Sporting Lisbon sensation Nuno Mendes.

At the age of just 18, Mendes made his first senior appearance for the club back in June. His current release clause is believed to be around £40 million, with both United and Liverpool keeping an eye on him over the course of the last few months.

Sporting have been able to produce many top stars over the years, and they’ve also been able to do some substantial business with the Red Devils, too – most notably through Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is obviously focusing a great deal of his attention on bringing in young names for what is rapidly turning into a very young squad, but at the same time, he understands that there has to be a balance with some experienced faces, too.

Finding that middle ground is going to be crucial as we look ahead to the summer transfer window.
