Competition: League Two

Market: Mansfield win

Odds: 1/1 @ 888sport

Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways on Sunday afternoon, Mansfield will make the trip to a struggling Colchester this weekend.

Starting with the hosts, putting in another toothless display away at Leyton Orient last weekend, Colchester have only continued on an extended worrying spell. Freefalling their way down the League Two table and starting to look over their shoulder at the drop zone, the Essex based outfit have remarkably failed to record a single victory since way back on December 8th. Settling for a sluggish 0-0 stalemate away in the capital last time out, the U’s have also gained a real reputation for their glaring problems in the final third. Once again drawing a blank against Leyton Orient last weekend, Colchester have failed to bag a single strike in their last four straight appearances on the spin. Also without a win on home soil since the start of December, the U’s should face another stern test on Sunday.

As for the visitors, while Mansfield might have come from behind to grab a point away at Walsall in midweek, the Stags would have been disappointed to have not left with more to show. Never the less, after just about managing to hang onto their League Two status last season, the Nottinghamshire outfit have made a string of improvements this year. Sat within striking distance of breaking into the top-half of the table, Nigel Clough’s side are unbeaten on third-tier duties since the middle of December. Even more impressive, collecting a staggering 16 points from just their previous six League Two matchups, the former Burton boss has also seen his side continue to shine on their travels. Unbeaten in their last four appearances away from the One Call Stadium and winning three of those contests, we’re backing a similar outcome this weekend.
