Marcos Alonso eyeing Spain return

The Express understands that Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso is keen on a return to Spain.

The full-back is in no rush to head back to his home country, but has said that he would like to play in La Liga before he retires.

He began his career with Real Madrid but his only appearance in Spain’s top division came as a ninetieth minute substitute in a 2-0 win over Racing Santander in April 2010.

Since then he has spent the majority of his time playing in England first with Bolton Wanderers where he played forty-six times before moving to Fiorentina in Italy’s Serie A however he made a return to the Premier League by joining Sunderland on loan during the 2013/14 campaign.

He signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2016 and has since played for them forty-two times, scoring eight goals while he helped them to the Premier League title last season.
