Mata to leave Man United?

According to a recent report from The Athletic, Juan Mata is attracting a lot of attention from a variety of La Liga clubs.

The 33-year-old has been at Old Trafford since back in 2014 and in that time, he’s been able to build quite the legacy for himself. The veteran may not be a regular member of the first team squad these days but in many ways, that doesn’t diminish the influence he’s able to have in other areas of the pitch.

Prior to his days in England, including his stint with Chelsea, he enjoyed a fruitful four years with Valencia. The overwhelming expectation is that if he does depart United, as has been rumoured for many years, a return to his beloved Spain is on the cards.

Whether it be because he misses the weather or simply because he wants to remind himself of what it’s like to ply his trade in the Spanish top flight, he seems ready for the next phase of his career.
