Matthijs de Ligt lights up a transfer tussle

The 18-year-old Ajax starlet Matthijs de Ligt continues to impress with his flying form in the Dutch top flight with many a Europe’s top club believed to be keeping a close tab on him.

Despite his tender age Matthijs de Ligt continues to display commendable composure and physical ability which has the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Barcelona hot on his trail.

North London club Tottenham Hotspur are said to be the last ones to join the queue for the Ajax defender.

The Sun reports Spurs are prepared to invest up to £50 million to acquire the services of this young man who is seen as the ideal long-term replacement for wantaway defender Toby Alderweireld.

De Ligt amassed 32 Eredivisie performances for Ajax this season including the full 90 minutes he played in his team’s 3-0 win over AZ Alkmaar this weekend.

He also scored three goals for his team this term.
