Middlesbrough announced on their website that they have finalized the loan signing of Lewis Baker from Chelsea. He will join the Championship side on a season-long loan deal.
Since signing with Chelsea in 2014, Baker has been sent out on loan multiple times. Most recently the 22-year-old came back from a two-year loan spell with Vitesse in the Dutch Eredivisie, making 73 appearances and scoring 20 goals in his time there.
The young midfielder is no stranger to the Championship, as before he joined Vitesse, Baker went out on loan to Sheffield Wednesday and made four appearances for the Owls before being loaned out once again to Football League One’s MK Dons.
Now back in his native England, Baker will have a lot to prove and Boro looks to have made a great addition to their team as they will try and make their way back to the Premier League, after finishing 19th in the top tier last season.
